Once again a huge thanks is due to all those who have supported us, both in fundraising efforts, and also more generally, over the last few months.  Recent fundraising totals include:
– Scout Post (£1200 in total, £400 to our Group)
– Fireworks (£1500)
– Waitrose Bag Packing (£820 for the Group, £630 for Kandersteg)
– Christmas Fair (£200 for Kandersteg).

Cubs raise over £1000 for Sue Ryder Hospice

In November, Rama and Seeonee cubs had a sponsored Who Dunnit Hike’n’Camp to Cholsey. To date they have raised just over £1000 for Sue Ryder Hospice. Once gift aid is added, this total may rise by approximately £200. Well done to all the cubs who took part for raising so much money for such a good cause.

Waitrose bag packing 2017

Thank you to all the children and adults who helped with bag packing at Waitrose. The Thursday collection raised Bag around £650 for the Scouts’ Kandersteg Trip and on Saturday £850 was raised for the Group. Thank you to everyone who donated and to Waitrose.

Scouts deliver over 5000 cards

The local 2017 Scout Post delivered over 5,000 cards in December. Around £1,200 will be split between the 2nd Wallingford, Benson, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Cholsey and Crowmarsh scout groups.
This year’s long haul award went to Norway, not quite beating last year’s card addressed to Australia!

Scout Post 2017

Beginning in early December, 2nd Wallingford Scouts are again running the Scout Christmas post. Local cards are posted in special Scout post boxes found in various businesses in Wallingford. The delivery area for 2nd Wallingford Scouts is Wallingford, Winterbrook and Shillingford Hill.
Other local groups are also delivering cards this year so cards can be posted to addresses in Benson, Preston Crowmarsh, Roke, Rokemarsh, Berrick Salome, Shillingford, Warborough, Ewelme, Cholsey, Moulsford, Crowmarsh. North & South Stoke and Brightwel-cum-Sotwell.
The price of cards is 25p, money is placed in the box with the card.

2nd Wallingford Newsletter – October 2017

Thanks to all for your support
It seems like a long time since our last newsletter – which means that loads of great things have happened in the meantime which we need to thank you for.  Those involved in the planned 2018 trip to Kandersteg, Switzerland are working hard on fundraising for the trip (the Kandersteg Fund), but we also continue to fundraise for the Group.

We raised £100 by delivering burgers to cyclists and helpers at the Wallingford Cycle Festival (Kandersteg Fund)

Band concert 2017 raises £450

On Sunday 9th July 2017, Choosey Silver Band played a wonderful concert in Wallingford Castle Gardens and 2nd Wallingford Scout Group hosted a refreshment stand.
Thanks to the generosity of the people who baked cakes, the efforts of the team on the stand and the people who bought tea and cake, we raised around £450.00 for the Group!

The Scout packs have been busy fundraising for a 10-day trip to the International Scout Centre at Kandersteg, Switzerland (KISC). They have run a car-washing day and run fundraising stalls at various local events.
