Beavers

Beavers

Beaver Scouts is the youngest section of the Scouting family and is for boys and girls aged 6 to 8 years. They take part in a wide range of fun activities including games, crafts, badge work and visits, along with plenty of outdoor pursuits. Beaver Scouts also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

Our Beaver Colony meets on Tuesdays from 4.15pm to 5.15pm at the 2nd Wallingford Scout Hut.

We accept children onto our waiting list in the Autumn, Winter or Summer terms before they are five e.g. for a January born child, the earliest we would accept them onto the list is in September of the year before that in which they are 5 years old.

Please email the following details, child’s name, contact details and date of birth to membership@2ndwallingfordscouts.org.uk. To view a copy of our waiting list policy, please click here.

We are always looking for new volunteers and would love to hear from you if you would like to help in the running of the Beaver Colony on an occasional or regular basis. Please email membership@2ndwallingfordscouts.org.uk in the first instance and we will contact you to discuss how you can get involved.

The 2nd Wallingford Scout Group has room in it for another Beaver Colony. All we need are the Leaders to start it. If that could be you, please get in touch.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Uniforms – All Beavers, once invested, wear a burgundy and white necker and a turquoise sweatshirt. There is a turquoise Beaver Polo Shirt that is good for wearing in the summer months or for activities. Uniform can either be bought from your local District Scout Shop which is open at the Scout Hut on certain dates or on-line at Scout Shops. Section Leaders will provide Beavers with a woggle to keep their necker together. It is not possible to buy individual neckers from the Scout Shop online.

Badges – For details on where to sew your Beaver badges, please visit http://scouts.org.uk/media/81944/Beaver-Scout-uniform.pdf

Subs / Membership Fees – You will receive email requests for subs via Online Scout Manager (OSM).

If you have not completed a Gift Aid form, please ask for one. Camps are charged separately. Cost however should not be a barrier to anyone taking part in Scouting and if this is an issue, you can speak to the local Section Leader in confidence.

Half of these funds are sent to the District and Central Headquarters to keep the Scouting infrastructure running.

With the sum that remains, the Scout Leaders provide badges once they have been earned and all the materials to make each Section night fun and interesting e.g. food, materials for experiments etc.
