Scout Post 2015
It has been another successful year for the Scout Post. Almost 4,500 cards were posted in the Wallingford post boxes, an increase of around 25% on last year. In addition to providing a great service, it also raised approximately £1,000 for 2nd Wallingford Scout Group.
Thank you to everyone who used the Scout Post, and to all the group members involved in making this popular community service such as success.
Waitrose Bag Packing raises over £1000
A huge thanks to everyone who came to help bag pack and collect donations in Waitrose on 23rd December. Thanks to the generosity of shoppers, and the packing/trolley pushing and smiles of our helpers, we collected an amazing £1,050.
Heroes Hike for Children in Need
On a rather wet and windy Sunday 15th November, 2nd Wallingford Cubs did a sponsored hike from Nuffield Place to the Scout Hut to raise money for Children in Need. This year’s Children in Need theme is Heroes, so cubs, leaders and parents dressed as their favourite hero. They walked through Nuffield, along the Ridgeway, through Mongewell, back along the river and through Wallingford to the hut for tea and cakes.
Between them, they raised an amazing £802.32!

Wallingford Remembrance Day 2015
Seventy plus Young People and all the Group Leaders attended the Wallingford Remembrance Parade and Service on Sunday 8th November and did themselves and the town proud.
Andrew is our Thames Chiltern District Commissioner and Jacqui performs a number of roles for us including helping Leaders with Training and being the District’s Appointments Committee Secretary.

Fireworks 2015
Saturday 7th November was the annual Wallingford 1155 Fireworks display.
The Cubs’ Amazing Alien Guy(s) – linked by underpants – won the £100 prize for the best Guy!
A superb sales team of Leaders, Parents and Young People held the fort at the Fireworks Control Tent and sold LOTS of glow sticks and sparklers (we’ll get a donation for doing that).
70+ Leaders, Parents and Young People turned up at 8am to clear the remains of the litter from the Kinecroft – we made a lady dog walker cry to see such a force in action! …
Housework at the Scout Hut
The Magnificent Seven cleared the remains of the old Gas Store and sorted/cleared lots of old equipment from Hut 2. We now have a basic Firepit area and lots of space and usable cupboard space in Hut 2 (thanks to St Johns School for 3 of their old cupboards).

Beavers Autumn 2015
Wow, what a busy start to the new term. The Beavers had an amazing visit to Wittenham Clumps for a fantastic day with lots of other Beaver colonies from all over the county. We got to build dens, make wild art, try some pond dipping, have a go a meadow sweeping, light our own fires and even try sawing some wood to make our very own medals.

Band concert cake sale raises £158
On Sunday 6th September, 2nd Wallingford Scout Group hosted the refreshments stall at the Band Concert in Castle Cardens. It was a lovely sunny afternoon spent listening to wonderful music and raised £158 for the group. Thank you to everyone who baked cakes, who helped with the stall and who came and bought cakes.

Dear Parents and Beavers/Cubs/Scouts
On Sunday 6th September (3-5pm) the 2nd Wallingford Scout Group is hosting the refreshment stand at the Band Concert in Castle Gardens. This is a valuable fundraising event, which was very successful last year and will enable our leaders to continue to provide an exciting range of activities for our young people.
